On our inaugural episode of the Style Interpreted Podcast, Lora LaPratt joins us to talk about her fifteen year journey in Chicago's fashion scene. Lora is the CEO, Founder and Lead Stylist for her personal styling company: Shopping Girl XOXO.
Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Lora focuses not only on helping her clients look their best, but most importantly feel confident and stylish in updated wardrobes and elevated styles. She prides herself in connecting her clients with local designers and pulling from local boutiques first. Above all, Lora has a passion for getting to know her clients on a personal level to help bring out each of their individual styles.
“I started off by working at big box stores, Anthropology, and Club Monaco, 15 years ago. Then I started working at local boutiques and I very quickly realized that my passion was focusing on styling my clients with local designers and pulling from local boutiques, before all else.”
Always wanting to make sure that her clients know that a stylist is not just for the rich and famous, Lora works with all different types of budgets and has a large array of amazing local designers and boutiques, of all different price points.
“I'm also making sure that we're on the same page when it comes to budget and just being really realistic. If you want a full new wardrobe, I can tell you the average price point. I also know that I can obviously go much higher, but we can definitely go lower too. I help them be realistic, but comfortable with whatever it is that they're willing to spend knowing they're going to get a fabulous new wardrobe out of it.”
Lora goes into the ways she approaches each client, from an initial wardrobe analysis to unique situations like photoshoots, to find the most authentic look for each of her clients.
