Odell Mitchell III, attorney and entrepreneur, sits down on the Legal Network to share how everything he does revolves around one question: “how do we make this world a better place for the people living in it?”
His firm, Thirdinline Legal, is a law firm that focuses largely on entertainment practice. He approaches his legal practice the same way he approaches most things in life - by connecting with the people he’s working with.
“The people that we represent are folks who are doing something creative or what I like to often call creative adjacent. People who create things really invest their soul into it and so being able to connect in that space really helps.”
While Odell works with anyone doing something creative, music is what brought him to this type of law in the first place. It started in college where he was studying music business and started doing creative things for a local record label from graphic design to helping people record and write music. Today that lends itself to his unique position - a lawyer helping creatives who has extensive experience in being a creative himself.
“I know what it is to be in the studio. I know what it is to do all of that grind work. That helps give that perspective of how you are able to create something and really embrace that while also thinking of these other concerns like, what is that balance, what is the calculus you have to do, et cetera? It’s not philosophical to me, it's real. And that is something that definitely sets me apart.”
On this episode of The Legal Network, Odell shares more than his story; he also shares advice on how people in the Entertainment industry can go about finding the fight lawyer, what to look out for, what to avoid, etc. Tune in to learn more on those topics and about how Odell helps others and maintains his optimal level of empathy and kindness in his approach to law.
